Starting a new project in Cakewalk Next is quick and easy — but setting things up correctly from the beginning ensures a smooth workflow. Let’s walk through it step by step!
Step 1: Create a New Project

Start a Project:

- Click File > New Project (CTRL+N / CMD+N).
- Quick Start screen will open.
- Click Create
- Begin a new project from scratch or select a template.
Tip: Templates come preloaded with tracks and effects, which can speed up your workflow!
Step 2: Configure Project Settings

Set the Tempo & Time Signature:

- In the top toolbar, click the tempo value to adjust.
- Click the meter to set the time signature (e.g., 4/4).
Step 3: Add Tracks

Insert Tracks:

Click the + button in the Track pane.

Choose the track type:

Audio Track: For vocals, instruments, or external gear.

Instrument Track: For virtual synths and MIDI instruments.
