Automation in Cakewalk Sonar enables dynamic changes to your mix and effects over time. You can automate parameters like volume, pan, and plugin controls. Whether for subtle fades or complex movements, automation offers precision and flexibility.
Getting Started with Automation
Enabling Automation Lane
- Select the automation parameter from the track’s Edit Filter control.
- Alternatively, click the Automation Lane icon on the track header.
Writing Automation
- Using the Draw Tool:
- Select the Draw Tool from the Control Bar or press F9.
- Click and drag on the automation lane to create envelope points.
- Using Nodes:
- Switch back to the Smart Tool.
- Double-click on the envelope to add nodes.
- Drag nodes to adjust timing and values.
Playback and Editing
- Automation will be active during playback.
- To fine-tune automation:
- Drag nodes or lines between them.
- Right-click a node to delete or change its curve type.
- Use Snap Settings for precise placement.
