Looping and Playback

Looping allows you to repeatedly play a specific section of your project, which is useful for practicing a part, recording multiple takes, or fine-tuning a mix. Here's how to set up and configure looping in Cakewalk Next:


Enabling Loop Playback

  1. In the main toolbar, locate the Transport controls.
  2. Click the Loop Playback button to enable or disable looping.


Setting, Resizing, and Moving the Loop Region

  1. Setting the loop region:
    • In the Time ruler, which is located in the Clips pane, drag in the top third of the ruler to define the loop region.

  2. Resizing the loop region:
    • Once the loop region is set, you can change its duration by dragging the left or right edge of the loop region.

  3. Moving the loop region:
    • To move the entire loop region to a different part of the timeline, To move the loop region, hold down the CTRL (Windows) / CMD (Mac) key and drag the blue loop range to the desired location.


Additional Tips    

  • If enabled, the time ruler follows the Snap to Grid settings, which helps you create precise loop regions.
  • Toggle loop on/off: You can quickly toggle looping on or off by right-clicking in the top third of the time ruler.
