Setting up your project correctly in Cakewalk Sonar is the first step toward a smooth and productive workflow. From creating new projects to configuring tempo, key, and time signatures, these initial settings help you stay organized and ensure your music sounds exactly the way you envision.
Open Cakewalk Sonar.
Click File in the top menu, then select New.
Choose a project template or start with an empty project.
Name your project and pick a location on your computer to save it.
- Tempo - The tempo is displayed in the Control Bar. Adjust it by clicking on the tempo value and typing in your desired BPM.
- Key and Time Signature - Click the key signature field in the transport module to set your project's key, then click the time signature field to choose the appropriate meter.
When you launch Cakewalk by BandLab, the first thing you'll see is the Start Screen. This screen is your gateway to quickly access different project options. Here's a breakdown of what you'll find:
- Create - Select a template that suits your needs, or choose Empty Project to start from scratch.
- Local Projects - Quickly reopen your most recent projects saved on your local storage drive. This section lists the project you've worked on recently, allowing easy access.
- Online Projects - You can access your BandLab projects in this section and import them to Cakewalk Sonar.
- Demo Projects - Explore demo projects provided by Cakewalk to understand how various features work. These are fully arranged projects that you can dissect and learn from. You can find your BandLab projects here and import them into Cakewalk Sonar.
- Product Updates - Access this section to discover new updates from Cakewalk Sonar.
Once your project is set up, you’re ready to dive into recording, editing, and mixing. Taking the time to configure your project correctly at the start saves time later and allows you to focus on making music without unnecessary technical interruptions.
