Cakewalk, the company, closed in November 2017. This closure effectively discontinued all Cakewalk programs as of that date. BandLab acquired the IP and certain related assets of Cakewalk in 2018 and released Cakewalk by BandLab shortly after. Cakewalk Sonar is the rebranding of Cakewalk by BandLab.
You can continue to use any previous Cakewalk software (except for Cakewalk by BandLab, which reached its EOL on 31 December 2025), though it is not being updated or maintained. Users who created a Single Sign On account between 2014 and 2017 can still log in to https://legacy.cakewalk.com/. Additionally, any programs released between 2015 and 2017 will install and authorize via Command Center.
